Pol Pot Politics

I just heard someone on Newstalk (A.K.A. conservativeestablishmenttalk) referring to the 'Pol Pot Politics' of Sinn Fein - because of their position on the banking crisis (i.e. burning the bondholders).

I too believe the bondholders should all be burnt, or at least that the debt should be radically restructured - also I believe that the failing banks should have been allowed to fail - I believe the bank debt should never have become Irish sovereign debt - and I also believe that the Irish people should not have been punished for the stupidity and mismanagement of the bankers (Irish and European), the greed of the property developers, the incompetence and collusion of the politicians, the criminal negligence of the regulators, etc.

Are my politics akin to Pol Pot?

Why do I even listen to this station anymore...

Harangue a go go!

Joan_burton

I'm currently watching Tonight with Vincent Browne. The guests;
  1. Joe Higgins - a gentleman.
  2. Simon Coveney - a grey-bespectacled-accountant-suit-type - blue shirt non-entity - does he even exist?
  3. Joan Burton - what a bully! what a liar! What a vile haradan!

If I was inclined to vote I would have nobody to vote for:
  • FG; FF + Blue Shirt,
  • Labour; FF + Joan Burton.

I'd vote for Joe Higgins, but I'm not sure if he's running. Perhaps it's time for the nuclear option.

Fuck politics - It's time to burn shit down!

The Rise of the New Global Elite

A multibillion-dollar bailout and Wall Street’s swift, subsequent reinstatement of gargantuan bonuses have inspired a narrative of parasitic bankers and other elites rigging the game for their own benefit. And this, in turn, has led to wider—and not unreasonable—fears that we are living in not merely a plutonomy, but a plutocracy, in which the rich display outsize political influence, narrowly self-interested motives, and a casual indifference to anyone outside their own rarefied economic bubble.

(via theatlantic.com) Interesting to see these opinions expressed outside of my brain.

Is it time to burn shit down yet?

Set this country alight!

Cowen2

Hateful Brian Cowan - incompetent buffoon and professional bully-boy, who has virtually single-handedly destroyed a country, and will leave office shortly in disgrace but with his testicles intact - how is that fair?

Hateful Irish politics - school teachers and publicans at play - intoxicated idiots imitating a cancer on the body politic - uncreative incompetents expressing themselves as only they can - malicious destruction of other people's property.

Hateful Newstalk - I am sick and tired of listening to 'ye-olde-worlde' oirish conservatives disseminating the establishment / elite position, all the while claiming to be fair and balanced (Damien Kiberd, failed businessman Ivan Yates, etc.).

The hateful Irish people - incapable of protest, incapable of anger, incapable of anything - a gelding in repose.

Fuck politics - it's time to burn shit down!

Fucking MacPorts!

I have had enough of MacPorts! I just tried to upgrade a few outdated packages;

port -nvfu upgrade outdated

and kablammo! Problems building poppler, cairo, gtk2, etc. due to an earlier libpng update. It's always the same with MacPorts - builds constantly failing because changes in dependencies. And yet it doesn't provide a revdep-rebuild equivalent, or anything of the sort.

Wouldn't it be easier to just port portage to OSX?
